There are any number of reasons your attempt might not have worked. More details would help.
It sounds as though you are not a natural somnambulist. For you, think of hypnosis more as an imaginary game than a crazy experience. Try this, close your eyes and imagine them not being able to open. Then, imagine trying to open them. Can you feel a bit what it would be like if they couldn’t open? Really focus on that feeling. Play with that a bit.
Not on its own. Suggestions can have lasting consequences if you don’t remove them properly. Also, be aware of the potential for ab-reactions. I would avoid using hypnosis if you can’t make sense of that statement.
Not especially but there is such a thing as an abrection which is an unpleasant and unexpected reaction to a suggestion. Make sure your hypnotist knows what he or she is doing.

Its a sort of mind game if you will. The phobia is still cured. Don’t underestimate the power of belief.
Lets think about this. Your claim is that hypnosis is fake because it is just the effect of the subject going along with what the hypnotist is saying right? I am fully willing to concede this point. Now, lets imagine that the hypnotist asks the subject to close his or her eyes and then plants the suggestion that they are stuck. Your claim would be that the subject can not open his or her eyes because they are going along with the hypnotist right? I concede this. Now lets imagine that…
